2100 Associate Schools in Punjab will not be closed, High Court imposes ban on Education Board order for one year

Associate schools running in Punjab got a major relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court, while hearing the petition of the school operators, stayed the Punjab School Education Board’s order to close the school for one year. The court told the Punjab School Education Board that the situation for associate schools in 2020-21 should be made for the next academic session as well. With the decision of the High Court, the operators of 2100 associate schools of the state breathed a sigh of relief.

Because the Punjab School Education Board had clearly stated in its orders that schools which do not fulfill the conditions of affiliation will be closed by 31 March 2021. Some school operators filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against this order of the board.

Opposition to impose new conditions

Advocate Gurcharan Das, Advocate Vivek Sharma and Advocate Sanjeev Sharma of the Association of Associate Schools, Punjab School, said that after the imposition of new conditions on the Associate Schools, when the Board ordered the closure of not fulfilling them, on behalf of the school operators The petition was filed. He said that the board officers were summoned repeatedly on behalf of the court, but they kept on delaying. Now when the last date was close, a petition was issued in the court to issue the Continuation Performa for the next academic session.

Even if the board did not respond, the court has ordered the board to maintain the status quo for one year. He said that this gave the associate schools one year. He told that the court has said that now the next hearing in this case will be done when there will be a physical hearing in the court.
