Their mind is also fragile, they are also fickle, they want to chat and read. However, the deformity at birth gave him physical challenges. They needed a support that would encourage them to run with ordinary children. Deepmala gave this support to children with disabilities. Now 600 such children are waiting for the school door to open.

Deepmala, the teacher of primary school Dabhora named the campaign that started such children to get admission in the school – One Teacher, One Time. Through this, teachers went on searching for such children with a voice in the villages. Deepmala says that when the schools were closed during the lockdown, there was a chance to think something different.

Many disabled children were seen in the villages, who were helpless. To bring them into the mainstream, it was decided that they will start with their studies. In April, it started being discussed on the WhatsApp group of teachers. Many colleagues appreciated the courage and made the outline of the campaign.

70 teachers along with Deepmala agreed to become partners in this campaign. It was decided that every teacher should find 10 to 10 differently-abled children. During the Unlak, these people made their way towards the villages by making eight groups. Parents of Divyang children told that they will get them admitted now. Deepmala says that after the contact when the turn of admission came in September, all the 70 teachers helped in getting their contact children online to the nearest government school. About 600 children have been admitted in this way.

Right now due to online classes these children are having difficulty in reading. The material used for special studies should be sent to their homes. The team includes a physiotherapist, Arun Singh, a counselor Amit Yadav, special educator Vijay Tripathi. Deepmala herself was a master trainer in the year 2017. She says that these 600 children are in separate schools in the district. The teachers through whom they entered have taken care of them. Talked to six special educators of Pazile. Efforts are being made to have three special classes put up in the schools related to these students every week. We will do this with personal efforts other than jobs.

These children were admitted to the common schools, the teachers there should understand them properly, so it is important to know about nature etc. For this, a website is being prepared with the help of special educators. Mobile apps are being prepared for teaching deaf and dumb children.

Deepmala and many other teachers have made a good effort to take the disabled children to school. If all teachers keep this feeling, then it will be easy to bring children with disabilities into the mainstream. Currently there are about six thousand disabled children in the district. September saw the highest number of admissions. -Vinay Kumar, Basic Education Officer, Bareilly
