Basic Education Council: Portal ready for transparency, parents and employees upset

The use of technology in the exchange of information of the Basic Education Council has become a problem for the department. The portal which was launched by the State Project Office to bring transparency in the departmental works. Most of the time on that portal it is reporting error. There have been many errors in the department due to wrong data feeding on the portal.

In Kasturba Vidyalaya, the headmasters had shown payment of Rs 37 lakh for food, medical care and educational material without the presence of girl students. There is no account of crores of rupees released in the name of construction work in the council schools of 46 districts of the state. Rs 10 crore has been released only in Varanasi.

Lack of network in schools is a big problem. Teachers posted in rural areas also face problems due to non-availability of net. Data discrepancy occurs due to the portal not working properly. The department has not provided resources to work on the portal. An announcement was made to give tablets to the headmasters, which could not take shape till date.

To make the process of paying salaries to teachers transparent, the department had launched Manav Sampada Portal, but the portal is not working properly. As a result, teachers are not getting their salaries on time. Due to technical glitches in the RTE portal, parents face problems in the application.

At the same time, employees face problems in filling the data of children and schools. To send money for uniforms and shoes and socks to the parents’ account, the department had asked for the data of children and parents on the Prerna portal, but the work could not be completed.

BSA Rakesh Singh said that there are complaints of various kinds of irregularities in the portal prepared by the department. This has been conveyed to the State Project Office. Soon after the portal is fixed, departmental works will be completed.
