Chandigarh Education Department has once again got entangled in the rules. On 31 May 2020, an order was issued to give 15 supplementary (casual) holidays to the teachers serving under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, which was renamed as Punjab Service Rule on 22nd June to 12. Have given.

The recruitment of teachers working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan has been done according to the rules of MHRD, which are paid by the Central Government from salary to all types. Despite this, the Chandigarh Administration has issued instructions to reduce the number of holidays for one year from 15 to 12, citing the Punjab Service Rule.

There are so many holidays in a year

According to the RTE Act, teachers get facilities as per the rules of the central government. Teachers who have completed 10 years of service in the department get 15 holidays in a year while teachers who have completed 12 years get 20 supplementary holidays in a year. Similarly, women teachers also get other facilities including maternity leave. Former Education Secretary Bansi Lal Sharma had taken the initiative to increase the holidays for the teachers working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, whose benefit was being received by the teachers from June 1, 2020.

956 teachers out of 32 hundred working under SSA

At present 32 hundred teachers are serving under the Chandigarh Education Department, in which one thousand teachers are working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Salary to these teachers is released once by the central government in the month of June-July. In every school, a teacher is responsible for sending attendance, who after preparing the attendance gets it approved by the headmaster and principal. After this it is sent to the central government and from there their salary is released.
