Under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, a lottery was conducted in the Basic Education Department on Tuesday under the system of providing free education by getting the children of the poor admitted in private hospitals.

As many as 271 children who applied were denied admission as the schools where they had given the option of admission were already full. In lottery, 204 children were allotted private hospitals.

Under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, arrangements have been made for admission of children from poor families in 25 percent seats in private schools.
Under the scheme, after completing the process of online application in the Basic Education Department, schools are allotted through lottery. For the second lottery, 486 poor families had applied for the admission of children. In the investigation, 11 applications were rejected.

BSA Anand Prakash Sharma said that on Tuesday, the process of allotment of private schools among 475 poor children was completed through lottery. Schools have been allotted to 204 children.
Allotment of schools could not be done in 271 children, because the target of 25 percent has already been met in the schools which were given the option in the application. He said that after the opening of the schools, the concerned children would get the benefit of free education along with getting admission in the allotted schools.
