Clear way for construction of CU campus in Dehra

Himachal Pradesh Central University, which has been the main source of statements for political parties for many years, has finally got its base after nearly 13 years. Sometimes here and there, sometimes there has been a strong hope for the construction of a central university running in the system of credit. Now everything has come in the hands of CU administration. Now a multi-storey complex of CU will be constructed in Dehra in 115 hectares of land.

After the name of about 81 hectares of land, there has been a new enthusiasm for the CU administration construction work. There is a direct proof of this that the Executive Vice Chancellor and Executive Registrar of CU have gathered for the meeting of the Construction Committee. The construction work will start as soon as the meeting is held. Overall, in the coming days, when the permanent campus of the Central University will be ready, the students will get quality education as well as excellent facilities.

So far, 24 hectares of land has been in the name of CU in Jadarangal under Dharamshala light. 34 hectares of land had been named for the Dehra campus last year itself. Recently, now 81 hectares more land has been in the name of the Central University. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::

When was the Central University found?

The Central University for Himachal Pradesh was announced by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on August 15, 2007. After the approval of the President, on March 20, 2009, the temporary campus of CU was started in the building of Government College Shahpur.

Furkan Kanwar was the first Vice Chancellor of the Central University. At present 17 schools of different subjects are running in three temporary blocks in Shahpur, Dharamshala and Dehra Beas campus and Dr. Roshan Lal Sharma is looking after the charge of Executive Vice Chancellor.

In 2016 it was started in a temporary building in Dharamsala.

Initially a part of CU running in Shahpur was shifted to Dharamshala in September 2016 and it was started in the new building of BEd College. In 2018, the CU administration took over the building of Senior Secondary School Boys Dharamshala and started MBA classes here. In 2018 itself, a part of it was shifted to Dehra. The first Sapta Sidhu complex was run in the community hall of Radha Krishna temple in Dehra. After this in 2020 the Dehra campus is running in a private hospital.

Student unions also played an important role

The process of selection and finalization of land in Dehra and Dharamshala of Central University is going on for years. Student organizations Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and NSUI have also contributed a lot for the construction of CU. NSUI has also been agitating for CU construction from time to time. The Vidyarthi Parishad observed a continuous 44-day fast during March-April and the main demand was the construction of the CU Bhawan. During the agitation, the workers had an altercation with the registrar.

The workers of the student council had reached Delhi to meet the Union Education Minister in support of the demands. During this, he had assured the workers to accept their demands. As a result of this, now the way for the construction of Dehra complex has been cleared.
