    Educational Qualification: Graduate in Home Science or equivalent; with Human nutrition & dietetics as a part of curriculum. Previous experience as dietician in Govt./ PSU /reputed Hospitals shall be an additional qualification.

Fees: The applications should contain an application fees in the form of Bank Draft drawn in favour of Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent, Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, Guwahati of Rs.150/- (Rupees one hundred fifty) only application for General category and OBC/MOBC candidates and Rs.75/ only for the SC, ST(P) & ST(H) category candidates.

Address: Application shall be addressed to the Principal-cum-Chef Superintendent, Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, Narakachal Hill Top, Guwahati-781032, Assam and have to be sent/submitted in a sealed envelope to the office of the Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent, Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, Guwahati-32 on or before 25-09-2015 during office hours. The name of the posts should clearly be mentioned on the top of the envelope. Applicants received either by post or by hand after last date of submission shall not be accepted under any circumstances.

The Gauhati Medical College Hospital has enjoyed a prestigious status in the country for its academic pursuites and patients care, and as a referral centre for speciality and superspeciality treatment.Medical school was upgraded and on 3rd Nov., 1947 the Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh was established and it stands as the first medical college in Assam. With increasing demands for health care and health education, the need for more medical colleges in Assam was keenly felt. The State Government in 1959 headed by Mr. B.P. Chaliha, the then Chief Minister of Assam, Mr. Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed, the then Finance Minister, and Mr. Rupram Brahma as the then Medical Minister of Assam decided to have a second medical college in Assam. On 7th Nov., 1959 the State Government set up an expert committee to go into the matter and submit their report.

Guwahati is the largest city of Assam. The ancient cities of Pragjyotishpura and Durjaya were the capitals of the ancient state of Kamarupa under the Varman and Pala dynasties, Guwahati lies between the banks of the Brahmaputra River and the foothills of the Shillong plateau, with LGB International Airport to the west and the town of Narengi to the east. The Guwahati region hosts diverse wildlife including rare animals such as Asian elephants, pythons, tigers, rhinoceros, gaurs, primate species, and endangered birds Guwahati is one of the fastest growing cities in India The city’s population grew from just 200,000 in 1971 to more than 500,000 in 1991. In the 2001 census, the city’s population was 808,021. By 2012, the population of the rapidly growing metropolitan area had risen to 1.5 million. It is estimated that Guwahati will house 2.2 million residents by 2020.

Famous sanctuaries in Assam are Kaziranga National Park, Chakras hila Wildlife Sanctuary, Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, Deepor Beel Bird Sanctuary, Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary, etc. The major rivers of Assam are Brahmaputra and Barak rivers.
