Indian Institute of Technology Patna is new branch of IIT, which was established by an act of parliament in 2008. It has three schools of learning 1st School of Engineering consisting of the following Departments namely, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering 2nd School of Basic Sciences consisting of Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics Departments and 3rd School of Humanities consisting of Humanities & Social Science Department. The 3rd largest population and 13th largest state of India, Bihar is located in East part of the country. It is covering the area of 94,163 square kilometers. The 2nd largest city of eastern India, Patna is the capital city of Bihar. It’s p[opulation counts of 1.68 million makes it nineteenth largest city of country. The length of city is 35 kilometres and 16-18 kilometres wide. For ease of starting a business, the World Bank ranked Patna as second city in India, in June 2009. During ancient time Patna was known as “Patliputr”, which ws the capital of the Magadha Empire.
