The education department of Bihar has taken cognizance of the issue of getting married to girls of Mahadalit community in Samastipur district of Bihar at an early age. Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Education and an officer of the Indian Administrative Service, described it as tragic. He has said that the government is worried about such things. The education department of Bihar is looking into such things and is serious about removing this problem. He has said that this problem will be seen by coordinating with the district administration of Samastipur. In this regard, the Principal Secretary of the Department has made a tweet late on Tuesday night.

Actually this issue was also raised on Twitter itself. This problem was raised in a Mahadalit community in Samastipur district of Bihar from a Twitter account called People’s Archive of Rural India. This tweet states that the girls of Mahadalit community in the district are victims of social curse. These girls are being forced to drop out of school education and get married at an early age. Some people are opposing it, but most are silent on this issue. This tweet was done on Tuesday itself at around 8:00 pm and after about two and a half hours the Principal Secretary of the Department of Education made his remarks retweeting it.

Some girls of Mahadalit community in Samastipur district have given their helpless statement on the issue of child marriage. These girls say that if she keeps studying then who will marry her. Significantly, the government of Bihar is very serious on the issue of child marriage and dowry. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself has expressed his opinion on this issue many times. The government has also enacted two laws to remove both these social evils. The Chief Minister says that the end of these social evils is not possible without the cooperation of the society.
