The new academic session will also reduce the burden of millions of students in government and private schools in Uttarakhand. Exercise has started for this. The Directorate of Education has issued orders to all the districts to strictly follow the guidelines given by the Union Ministry of Education to reduce the burden of school bags. 

In the new National Education Policy 2020, more emphasis is laid on learning than rote learning. In view of this, in the new education policy, the weight of bag of class-wise students has also been prescribed. Now the weight of the bag of students from first class to 10th will not be more than 10 percent of their body weight. At the same time, it will not be mandatory for pre-primary children to bring bags. The responsibility of the principals will be fixed to check the weight of the school bag.

The central government has instructed all states to implement this system strictly. In this series, Additional Director Primary Education VS Rawat issued a letter to all Chief Education Officers and District Education Officers, directing them to fully implement the Central Government’s instructions from the new session. Additional Director Primary Education informed that an online meeting with officials will also be held soon.

The rule must be strictly enforced

Doon’s parents say that almost every year, guidelines are given by the Central Government regarding the baggage, but these are not implemented in schools. The burden of children’s bags is so high that the condition of the elders also worsens in lifting it. Arif Khan, president of the National Association for Parents and Student Rights, said that his association has raised demands to reduce the burden of children on many occasions.

Now this rule is expected to be implemented through the new education policy. However, this will be possible only if it is strictly adhered to. At the same time, Pooja Sharma, situated on Chakrata Road, told that her son studies in the third grade in a private school. The main and supplementary books of every subject are so much that the bag becomes heavy on its own. If you do not give the complete copy-book, the child gets scolded in school.
