The academic session of government schools in the state was started online on Tuesday. Along with this, the education which started on Doordarshan from 8.30 am to 10.30 am for the students of class X and XII of government schools got stuck due to non-telecast. For this, about 15 lakh children of the state sat in front of the TV since morning, but the educational program could not be telecast.
In fact, the Department of School Education, Doordarshan Kendra Bhopal has clearly said that the videos of studies should be given in BRD (Blue Red Disk) instead of pen drive. Otherwise, the broadcast will not be done. Whereas in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, episodes are being broadcast from the pen drive itself in view of the student interest. However, last year, the department had made the videos available through pendrive itself. Now these classes are being said to start from July 1. The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) has also issued orders in this regard.
Doordarshan placed this condition
Doordarshan Kendra Bhopal has put some conditions for the broadcast in a letter to the School Education Department. It has been said in the letter that in the year 2020-21, under a special initiative by Prasar Bharati, special facility was given to broadcast a program free of cost. Now this plan has been discontinued. Therefore, the school education department’s educational program ‘Class Room’ will be telecast under the same sponsored category as other private agency. Earlier every episode of class room was allowed to be made available for telecast in pendrive, but according to the guidelines of Doordarshan. In order to maintain the audio and video quality of the program, the use of pendrive has been completely banned, therefore, every episode of the educational program for the session 2021-22 proposed by the department will have to be made available in BRD.
It will cost around Rs 50 lakh to prepare the episode in BRD.
The facility of BRD (Blue Red Disc) is with one agency in Bhopal. Two to three thousand rupees are charged for copying an episode of about one hour in BRD. If the episode has to be amended, then the same charge will be made again, whereas copying in the pen drive does not attract any charge. It will also cost the department up to 50 lakhs over time to get the episodes ready in BRD.
The class room was to be telecast from Doordarshan from Tuesday, but due to some technical problems, the class X and XII studies could not start. Now it will be broadcast from July 1.
