Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has suggested to set up a review committee and a compliance committee headed by the Secretary of Higher Education to implement the National Education Policy fast.

Ministry officials said that the Union Education Minister gave this suggestion during the review with senior officials of the Ministry on various aspects related to compliance and implementation of the new Education Policy 2020.

During the review, the minister also recommended setting up of a task force to establish coordination between the higher education and school education departments for the implementation of the National Education Policy.

The Education Minister suggested to set up a review committee and a compliance committee under the leadership of the Secretary of Higher Education to implement the National Education Policy fast.

According to the statement of the ministry, Nishank stated the need to move from package culture to patent culture.
He said, ‘National Education Technology Forum and National Research Foundation are important for the success of the policy and hence they should be established in the year 2021-22.’

Nishank asked all the parties to implement the National Education Policy and ensure harmony between the current policies and emphasized the relationship between industry and educational institutions for better results.

According to the ministry, 181 works were identified in relation to compliance in higher education and it was emphasized the need to create a dashboard to monitor the timely progress of these 181 works in accordance with the new education policy.

During the review, it was said to make a weekly and monthly calendar to implement these works.
Significantly, the government had approved the new National Education Policy in July last year. In the new education policy, it was said that education should be provided in mother tongue only up to class five and up to class eight if possible.
