The National Institute of Technology Hamirpur is a public engineering college located in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology established, administered and funded by Government of India. It conducts undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Engineering and Architecture and Doctor of Philosophy programme in Engineering, Pure Science and Humanities. It was established in 1986 as Regional Engineering College, Hamirpur in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, it was a joint enterprise of the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh. On 26 June 2002 REC Hamirpur was awarded the status of deemed-to-be university and upgraded into an NIT. As a result of this transition the institute came under the sole purview of the Government of India. It has been awarded the status of Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament, and judged best NIT in terms of infrastructure by the World Bank. For getting admission in NIT Hamirpur one has to clear the JEE MAINS examination in INDIA.

Hamirpur is a town and the district headquarters of Hamirpur district in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Hamirpur is located in a relatively colder region in western Himachal Pradesh with a lower altitude as compared to the other districts of the state. It is bordered by Kangra to the north, Mandi to the east, Bilaspur to the south and Una to the west. Hamirpur is now considered as a major education hub of Himachal Pradesh. It is the second most educated region in India where male literacy is 91% and female literacy is 76%. Hamirpur is mainly a hilly terrain. Hamirpur was created mainly as a result of trifurcation of the erstwhile Kangra district on 1 September 1972, as a consequence where of two more new districts namely also from the then existing districts of Mahasu and Shimla, new districts of Shimla and Solan were formed by re-organising the boundaries of old districts. Most famous thing in Hamirpur is temple of Baba Balak Nath.

Anand, Anupam Kher, Perm Chopra, kangana Ranaut, Preity Zinta and many more. Himachal Pradesh has a total population of 6,856,509 including 3,473,892 males and 3,382,617 females as per the Census 2011.
