Nitish government extended the term of school education committees of Bihar till March

The Bihar government has extended the tenure of the School Education Committee working in 72 thousand elementary schools in the state. The existing committees have been given a three-month extension. This expansion has occurred because of the Corona crisis. The tenure of the majority of these committees expired on 31 December. The districts had sought guidance from the Education Department regarding this. Instructions were sent on behalf of the department on Monday. 

On behalf of Bihar Education Project Council, State Program Officer Vibha Kumari, in a directive sent to the DPOs of all the districts, said that after considering the current circumstances, various restrictions etc. on the Kovid-19, the presently functioning school education committees will be up to March 2021. Will edit all the tasks as This proposal of BEP has already been approved by the Department of Education. It may be noted that Banka’s overall education DPO had sought guidance regarding school education committees whose tenure ended in December 2020. In view of this, this extension has been given to the committees of all districts. 

It is to be noted that in the Bihar State Children’s Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Rules 2013, there is a provision for constitution of School Education Committee. Under this Act, on 16 September 2013, the Vidyalaya Shiksha Samiti was formed in all 72 thousand elementary schools in the state. This committee is responsible for the smooth conduct of academic and other activities including the development work of the school. The committee consists of the local people’s representative, the headmaster as well as the parent members of the children of various categories. The committee had not already been formed due to the Corona crisis and had a term of office until 31 December 2020. Now it has got extension of three months once more, so that no work in schools is interrupted.
