PGT Special Education teacher will teach for the first time in government schools

For the first time in Delhi government schools, teachers of PGT Special Education will teach students. Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi has recruited 268 teachers for this. Directorate has filled these posts of PGT Special Education through promotion. Directorate had released 301 posts of PGT Special Education for the first time this year. In this, 268 TGT Special Education have been directly promoted and recruited in PGT Special Education. At the same time, 33 posts are still vacant. According to the senior official of the Directorate, the posts which have not been recruited are the posts of SC category quota.

Joint Director of Education Ramchandra Singhare said that till now only the post of TGT Special Education was there for the students of special education from class one to 12 in Delhi schools. TGT Special Education was the work related to teaching students up to 12th standard and fulfilling their educational needs. At the same time, in the Department of Inclusive Education, all the work related to the students of Special Education was done by TGT Special Education. But, realizing the need of PGT teacher for the students studying in class 11th-12th, the posts of PGT Special Education were removed in February 2021 and then recruited.

According to Singhare, now PGT teachers will be able to give separate attention to the students of class 11th-12th.According to the directorate, if the promoted teachers are working in the inclusive education branch or as a mentor teacher, then they will work there for the time being. However, their salary and other facilities will be available to them only under PGT. The Directorate has directed the Deputy Directors of Education to ensure that all the TGT teachers who have been promoted, work at the earliest while assuming their posts.
