After nine months, schools in Jharkhand buzzed with students. The state’s 2219 high and plus two schools were opened to students from Monday after nine months. While Ramgarh had the highest attendance of 58 per cent students, the lowest in Saibganj was 42 per cent.

Apart from Ramgarh, more than 50 per cent students were present in Khunti, Jamtara Deoghar and Bokaro. Apart from this, sanitization of 37 to 42 percent of the schools was done in the state schools and 72 to 78 percent of the teachers reached the school on the first day. The blocks could not be reported till late evening from the blocks of many districts, due to which the Jharkhand Education Project Council has not compiled it.

In view of the matriculation and intermediate examination from December 21, the state government had issued a directive to call students of 10th and 12th schools. There are a total of 2,92,282 students in matriculation and intermediate in government schools and colleges of the state. On average, half of the children arrived at the school on the first day to clear dots and seek guidance from teachers.

Instructions were given by the Education Department to the districts and schools late in the evening on Saturday, due to which sanitation work was done in many schools on Sunday and Monday also. The students who were bringing written declarations from parents were allowed to enter the schools. The students who arrived without the manifesto were asked to enter only after bringing the declaration. Sanitizer and soap-water were provided at the main gate of the schools. Students were entering the school or room only after washing their hands with soap. Social distancing was also followed in the rooms and all the students sat on a distance of six feet from each other with a mask.
