A protest was held in front of Education Minister Vijayindra Sigla’s kothi on the demand of regularization of education department by the special teacher IERT union. After this, a memorandum was submitted to the administration in the name of Punjab Government. Union President Varidar Vohra, Deputy President Renu Kanwar, Deputy President Ramesh Maharan have demanded that under the Special Teacher Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, since 2005, the Education Department is doing the job by fulfilling the appointment rules of Punjab.

8886 teachers working by the Punjab Government were regularized in the Education Department by issuing orders on October 2018, but 375 special teachers who have been in service for fifteen years, fulfilling all the conditions equal to them, have not been regularized yet. This is downright unfair.

He demanded that special teacher IETART should be regularized like general teachers from April 2018. He informed that in the meeting of the Union’s School Education Secretary, Punjab held on September 2020 at Chandigarh Punjab Bhawan, all the documents were presented by the spokespersons of the union for regularizing the IERTs. On which the education secretary Krishna Kumar had assured that the file of special teachers would be sent to the Punjab government soon, but till now they have not been regularised.

Demanded on this occasion that special teachers should be regularized soon, union should be given time to hold a meeting. ——————–
