Jaipur Theatres Stop Screening “Panipat” after rising protests by people


Protests against the Bollywood film “Panipat” is going on in many states, several theatres in Jaipur, Rajasthan cancelled the shows of the film on Monday. It is alleged that this film has wrongly portrayed the character of Maharaja Surajmal of Bharatpur.

The Rajasthan government has sought answers from filmmakers through distributors. Additional Commissioner of Police (Jaipur) Ajay Pal Lamba said that elaborate security arrangements have been made in the theatres where the film is been screened.

Earlier, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had said that the feelings of the people of the society should not be hurt, if they are satisfied then after that the film will be better. Officers are coordinating with each other and talking to the distributors, hopefully, some solution will be found.

Panipat released on 6th December and clashed at the box office with Kartik Aryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Pandey’s Pati, Patni Aur Who. This caused a major dent in Panipat’s early collections, as it managed to score just about Rs 4 crore on the opening Friday.
