This Pandemic has not only taken many lives but has also affected many lives of the people. Especially the business sector be it small, medium, or big. One of the most affected sector is Movie Business, as it is the most expensive sector in the world. The Indian Film industry has come to a standstill due to the Coronavirus and we don’t know whether we will able to have an experience of going to the theatre or not. According to the experts, the film industry has incurred losses of Rs2500 crore till now and this can increase further into Rs5000 crore in the coming time or till the theatres are opened again. To maintain social distancing and to avoid groups or crowd at public places, malls, movie, theatres, parks, restaurants government has shut down all these places but now some relaxation have been given and people have started to go out in these places with proper safety measures. To compensate the loss, many production houses or film makers are using OTT platforms (Amazon, Hotstar, Netflix) to release their film digitally and the first movie which was released on the OTT platform (Amazon Prime) is Amitabh Bachchan’s and Ayushmann Khurana’s Gulabo Sitabo. Other than this, other movies like Sadak 2, Gunjan Saxena and Laxmmi Bomb are lined-up and will soon release on the OTT platforms. Now the question arising is whether this will be the new norm of watching the new films? Or we will watch the films in the theatres with our favorite snack? Many Cinema Houses like PVR, INOX etc., have criticized the view of the films which are released on the OTT Platforms.

While few media houses have confirmed that this trend is only for a short period of time until the restrictions relax and just to cover the losses of the business and once the theatres are opened again the movies will have a theatrical release only.
