Teachers union opposed the new education policy, saying that even if promoted, the condition of passing TET is wrong

Himachal Pradesh Government Teachers Association has opposed the condition of passing TET even if teachers are promoted on the new education policy. In the meeting of the heads and executive committee of all the 22 sections of the union that went virtual on Thursday, it called the policy wrong.

Presiding over the meeting, Chairman Ashwani Guleria said that it is not in the interest of teachers to make the condition of TET mandatory in promotion under the new education policy. Before implementing this, teacher and academic interests have to be paramount.

In the recruitment and promotion rules of teachers in the state and many other states, some posts are filled by direct recruitment and some posts by promotion process.

While filling the post by direct recruitment, the condition of TET pass should be mandatory in the state, but if anyone becomes a teacher, then the condition of TET mandatory should not be imposed for any further promotion. For promotion in Himachal, the condition of regular service period of 5 years has been kept. This service period should be considered at par with Tet. He has demanded from Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur that the Union Education Minister should be apprised so that the officials of the Ministry of Education and NCTE can be issued guidelines in this regard.
