The deadline for implementing the provisions of the new education policy to the university, education board and department in Himachal has been fixed.
The Education Department has fixed the deadline for implementing the new education policy at the ground level. The new education policy was implemented in Himachal on 8 September 2020. Himachal became the first state in the country, which was the first to implement this policy. Himachal Pradesh University, Board of School Education, Department of Higher Education, Department of Elementary Education, SCERT have been directed to implement the scheme one by one by September 8, 2021. Two days ago, Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur had a meeting with the officials of the department in this regard.
In the meeting, he directed the officers to implement it at the ground level instead of on paper. After the completion of one year of the new education policy, it will be reviewed again. Where there were flaws in implementing the plan, and what changes can be made, it will be discussed.
This target given to the Department of Elementary Education
The Department of Elementary Education has a plan to start pre-primary classes in more than one thousand schools in the state. This has been discussed in the meeting of the Project Approval Board. The final approval from the center is yet to come. These schools will be started after the approval of the Centre. Apart from this, pre primary schools will also be started in Anganwadi centers of the state. The target of the department is that for this, the recruitment process of teachers will be started by fixing the recruitment and promotion rules this month. Apart from this, vocational subjects have been asked to start from class VI. Higher education department has been asked to do away with the faculty system from class 11. That is, there will be no science, commerce and arts faculties. It will be mandatory for the students to teach Science, Mathematics, IT and Vocational subjects. IT and vocational subjects will start from class VI, while Sanskrit subject will be taught from class 3.
The board was asked to create a system of examinations twice
Under the new policy, board examination will be held twice in class X and plus two in the state. On the lines of JEE, students will be able to improve their division for the second time. This will eliminate the stress on the students regarding the examination. The Education Minister has instructed the board to prepare arrangements for this before September 8.
