Assam is a northeastern state of India and its capital is Dispur. Assam is one among the “Seven Sister states” in India. Famous sanctuaries in Assam are Kaziranga National Park, Chakras hila Wildlife Sanctuary, Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, Deepor Beel Bird Sanctuary, Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary, etc. The major rivers of Assam are Brahmaputra and Barak rivers.

Assam University is a UGC approved university established in 1994. The history of Assam University is the history of people’s struggle for higher education.The university has sixteen schools which offer Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Information Sciences, Technology and Management Studies. There are 35 departments under these sixteen schools. The five districts under the jurisdiction of Assam University have 56 undergraduate colleges. The main campus is in an area of 600 acres (2.4 km2), located at Dargakona, about 20 km from Silchar, while a second campus of the university is at Diphu, in the Karbi Anglong district. The chancellor of this University is Mr. Gulzar.

Location : Silchar

Department : Science and Technology

Project titled:  ‘Effect of dietary restriction on the medication and pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease’

Eligibility : MSc(Bio-Chemistry, Bio-Tech, Zoology)

Qualification: Master degree in Life Science (Zoology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Neuroscience) or allied discipline from recognized University. Preference will be given to the candidates having research experience in the field of Neuroscience.

Fellowship: Rs. 12000

Last Date : 17 Aug 2015

Walk-in interview will be in the Department of Life Science and Bioinformatics (Conference Hall), Assam University, Silchar on 17-Aug-2015 at 2.00 pm.
